shimmer

There is a cat on my lap and the radio is on and the stories I’m listening to are so sad but the girls are playing happily at the other end of the apartment and here I am. One foot is beginning to lose a bit of feeling, but I like a cat in my lap so here I’ll stay.

The girls wanted to put on makeup on Friday night and it’s a global pandemic so yeah, I said yes. I painted both of their eyes with shimmery blue eyeliner. I put pink and deep read lipstick on their small lips. Last night, I put some eyeliner on too, just to see myself different. Then, much later, Brendan got home from work and he explained to me that he thought that eyeliner should go all the way around the eye. I told him that there were many ways to wear eyeliner and everyone can wear it in their own way and did he want to put some on right now? Yes, he said, so I brought him the shimmery blue liquid eyeliner and a small mirror and he traced his eyes in the sparkle and it looked pretty cool after all, but I don’t line the bottom lids, that’s just not for me. We both slept in our eyeliner, just as the girls did on Friday night and this morning I woke up and looked in the mirror and mine still looked perfect.
